Bicycle Commuter Challenge
June 1 - July 31, 2008

A challenge to employees of any GRTMA member
company or organization.*

Register as an individual or team for the challenge no later than July 03, 2008. Individuals may win in individual categories even if they are participating on a team. Teams are not required to ride the same route or the same days, but they must register as part of their team, track their miles and days of participation and keep their team leader informed of their progress. The minimum days as a team must be observed for certain awards. Although team members are automatically registered as individual participants, they may not be registered on more than one team. Team captains must register their team information and return to the individual registration page to register for the competition. There is no restriction as to the number of teams that can be entered for each company.

Electric bicyclists and Segway riders may enter this competition and be given consideration equal to bicyclists for team and company awards. Motorcyclists are not included in this competition.

Each participant will receive a “Tour de Redmond” T-Shirt and a Certificate of Recognition.

Awards will be given for teams or individuals in the following categories:

5 Team** Trophies will be awarded for:

Most total commute miles as a team (# of riders x days x roundtrip miles)
Largest number of team members commuting (minimum 12 days ridership as a team)
Most daily roundtrip miles per rider (minimum 12 days ridership as a team)
Largest team per 100 employees (minimum 12 days ridership as a team)
Most total commute miles per 100 employees (# of riders x days x roundtrip miles)

3 Individual Trophies will be awarded for:

Highest total commute miles (days x roundtrip miles)
Most days of commuting
Single longest daily roundtrip commute (verify with address)

9 Company/Organizational Trophies will be awarded in the following categories:

1 - 100 employees
101-500 employees
Over 500 employees***

By size as stated above, the company winners will be judged as follows:

Highest total bicycle miles commuted
Greatest number of employees participating
Most days bicycled by all participants

In addition to trophies, team and individual winners will receive monetary prizes to be announced.

Companies located in business parks may be members through their property management company.

**Teams consist of two or more riders. Team statistics will be calculated by including only those participants who have ridden the minimum number of days during the competition. Team members who do not meet the minimum may be eligible for individual prizes if they also register as an individual.

***Company size will be assessed based on stated populations from member organizations.
